Fatal One-Vehicle Crash Under Investigation in Onondaga
TOWN OF ONONDAGA, NY — On July 17, 2026, at approximately 2:55 a.m., the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an automated iPhone crash detection alert in the area of Kasson Road and West Seneca Turnpike.
Upon arriving at the scene, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputies located a single vehicle, a Ford Explorer, resting in a ditch on the west side of Kasson Road.
The driver, an adult Male and sole occupant of the vehicle, was found unresponsive. Emergency medical personnel treated the driver at the scene before transporting him to Upstate University Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the driver was pronounced deceased around 4:20 a.m.
The identity of the driver is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation.
